 In almost everybike forums,blogs and where ever guys get a chance to talk about indian bikes, the hottest topic for the last 2~3 years  is “Which one is the best? Pulsar or Karizma?? ”

To me, both bikes are good, but both have much to evolve. The good thing is one of them is evolving where the other one which had an upperhand once is staying where it started. But still, both bikes are excellent performance bikes ,ofcourse in Indian Standards. Here is one genuine comment i got for one of my posts about Karizma FI from ‘Sreek’

To start things off, i have been riding the KARIZMA for the past 2 years. It is, with out a shadow of a doubt, an excellent bike on all respects. I have nothing but sheer respect towards the KARIZMA. To simply put it, HH is a legend maker. CBZ, the first premium sports bike in India and then they took it quite a few steps further with KARIZMA. its definetly a legend too. Bajaj, i feel is a trend follower or rather a trend improviser.

and now coming to the twist in the tale…

last week i sold off my 2 year old best friend, KARIZMA only to find a better friend in a beast which goes by the name PULASR 220 DTS-FI.

Its just been a week now, but the only thing I can say about PULASR 220 DTS-FI is that “I AM IMPRESSED”. I know that it is almost impossible to impress the KARIZMA riders simply because they are used to ride the best. But trust me when I say, even after riding the KARIZMA for 2 years, the PULASR 220 DTS-FI impressed me.

Factually speaking, there in not much to be compared between the 2 amazing performance bikes. Both of them are quick, fast and both look awesome. The PULASR 220 DTS-FI is technologically advanced though.

KARIZMA looks and feels intimidatingly big. Its has definitely got that big bike feel to it. And this is exactly whats missing with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.
May be this is a not such a bad thing after all. Even though the PULASR 220 DTS-FI looks smaller and much compact, it surely feels much quicker than the KARIZMA. And to some extent it really is too.

I don’t really want to comment on the mileage and the quality part of it because I really don’t care much and I am sure that none of u readers do either. But just for information, my old friend, KARIZMA used to return 33kmpl which may be considered exceptional. And my new friend is returning around 36kmpl. and about the overall build quality, KARIZMA is better. no doubts. (any HH is)

As I have said, technologically the PULASR 220 DTS-FI is a few steps ahead of the KARIZMA. The PULASR 220 DTS-FI’s head lights are nothing short of amazing. And the rear disc and the clip handle bar and faring mounted mirrors add to the overall style statement of the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.

The bottom line is that both of them are undisputable very very good performance bikes and neither of them can ever disappoint anyone anytime anyhow. The KARIZMA (17 bhp) is fast but the PULASR 220 DTS-FI (20 bhp) is just that much faster. But if any of you wnat an exact answer, either the KARIZMA or the PULASR 220 DTS-FI, guess what, its an unending argument.

All said and done, I still have the utmost respect for the KARIZMA but as of now, I am totally in love (or lust) with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.

And just to mention about both bikes oooomph!!!…. When I used to ride the KARIZMA people on the road, especially the young ones used to point out and say “wow…hey look karizmaaaaa” and I am sure it still happens to a lot of you KARIZMA riders. But now, with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI, the only reaction I am getting is “wwwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh”. (for those of you who are wondering what that is, its sheer amazement”.

Comparison is good and is a much needed one for a product if it need to evolve.But it should be genuine and purposeful.

    hey people… do not compare the karizma n the 220.. cuz both d bikes r at their own places.. sometimes zma leads in something or sometimes pulsar! it goes this way… pulsar 220 has the quickest acceleration amongst all.. but after 130km/hr the bike just refuses to go any furthur unless there’s a slope on the road.. while zma has a poor acceleration when compared 2 200 n 220.. but its top speed it unbeatable.. cuz of the high engine displacement.. ride quality is better in the karizma because of its heavy weight and a smooth vibration free engine.. pular is remarkably quick n is much more advanced as compared to the zma… like, the speed guages, led lights, sporty handle, rear disc, rear broad tyre, a liquid cooled engine.. pulsar 220 beats karizma in the mileage too.. but if you guys decide to spend a few grands n modify u’re bikes for speed, then zma is the right choice.. if u modd it properly; as in the sprockets n d engine porting n cold air intakes n so on, then a zma can be unbeatable.. cuz i own both d bikes n i ride them both regularly.. they have been both modified d same .. if you dont believe me guys, then i give anyone of u posting comments an open challenge to have a drag with me… A MODDED ZMA BEATS A MODDED PULSAR 220 ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYHOW!! if u r interested in a drag, then e-mail me.. both the bikes rock.. p220 is a new generation bike.. while zma is a trend setter.. those who r crazy about racing the better go for a sports bike… indian bikes aint for racing!! n those who want a good mileage, then it ll be good if u guys use a bicycle!! lol… instead of a motorcycle! if u people want both, then buy a zma or a p220.. according to ur usage! both r awesome bikes n there’s no comparison between them.. ups n downs r always there!! ride safely.. stick ur helmets on!

    Hi Guys!!

    Your comments have cleared the doubts in my mind..

    I was planning to purchase a new and was confused.. I want to purchase the fastest bike on Indian Roads till now.. but then if I’d go for Pulsar 220, then I will have to bear high maintenance expenses.. So, I am ready to compromise a little and ready to purchase the second fastest bike on India Roads but I want to use it every day and not pay unnecessarily for body parts maintenance.

    Thanks once again for the information.. Karizma R is the only thing now that will come to my house…

    I m very happy after reading d comparision done by sreek…an HONEST & UNBIASED comparision b/w d two good engines available n India (HH karizma & Pulsor 220).

    I m driving KARIZMA from d past 1 yr. I use it for daily commuting 2 my college(approx 50kms/day). I m very happy with d performance & the build quality. Even d PAINT JOB of karizma is EXCELLENT. The bike s a constant & steady performer. The engine has high tolerance since it has b backing of Hero Honda.

    On the other hand, Pulsor 220 s a bike made for satisfying ur need for speed. U can hear d raving sound of d engine a lot louder than wat u hear from d karizma. Well d sound helps ur adrelin rush but it is certainly tiring on a long run. But dat dosnt matter because d pulsor is not made for a long drive.
    It is made for a sunday morning… wen roads d r empty …& u can roll d accelerator completely…. & hear d raving sound f d engine…vhroooooooommmmmm & feel d pulsor 220 running like a beast …satisfyng ur need for speed.

    The pulsor is technically advanced than d karizma with its fuel injection technology. The quality of d materials used in d pulsor is poor. The workmanship is poor aswell.

    Like sreek & many othrs ovr here, i also feel dat dis comparison is a never ending one so i will leave it here.

    I bought a karizma & i think i made a SMART CHOICE because i wanted a bike with a constant performance, excellent goods quality & superb workmanship.

    But dat doesnt mean i dont like d pulsor 220 with its digital speedometre & FI technology . Pulsor is a product from BAJAJ & I really feel proud 2 see ‘Hamara desi Bajaj’ compteting with d karizma. Dere efforts 2 fight with d karizma is very gud but dey have 2 work a lot in d quality & workmanship department.

    nywys guys wen u drive ur bikes forget which is better just enjoy ur ride….& drive safe…

    i own a Karizma-R,but i dont say p200 or 220 r bad..we must all respect good engines.My pulsar buddies are interested in racing their 220 with zma…
    all i wana say is that zma is since there was no p200 220..its a trend setter..u must respect that…and neither zma nor 220 r meant for racing…racing bikes have not yet entered indian markets..let the ninja 250 fiero 250 launch and then we will have fun…these zmaz and 220s are just an eyewash to kids…
    remember guys..
    kids perform on streets,men do it on stages…
    so better not talk about racing with each other and enjoy the good engines we have in the form of the pulsars and zmaz…
    And yes..yamaha RD-which my pal owns eats up p220 and zma in no time..so none of these two bikes compared here r the fastest…
    wana go on and on..but no point…
    one of the kid here apparently has a Pulsar and does not know its spelling(pulser)..and wanting to compare his bike with a zma??lolzzz
    kiddish stuffs..guys grow up..both bikes r good..no one is a looser..lol

    HEY U ALL PEOPLE OF WILD DREEMS AND WANNABIES THE KARIZMA IS A GOOD BIKE FOR A PERSON WHO WANTS TO REALLY USE HIS BIKE DAILY AND THRASH THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF THE RPM BAND AND SINCE ITS BUILT SO WELL IT TAKES ALL U HAVE TO OFFER FOR A V LONG TIME……..HANDELING,EROGONOMICS,EVERYTHING ABOUT THE BIKE IS GOOD AND IS GOOD PURE RIDING PLEASURE BE IT ON A WORK DAY OR JUST WANTING SOME ADRILINE RUSH FOR SOME TIME…………………….

    ON THE OTHER HAND THE PULSAR 22O FI IS A GOOD BIKE TO TAKE OUT EVERY SAT SUN WITH UR BUDDIES OR TO TAKE IT TO COLLAGE TO SHOW OFF UR UNIQENESS AND STUNTING CAPABILITIES AND LATER HAVING TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES IMMEDIATELY AS THE BUILT QUALITY IS V LOW THE MORE U THRASH THE BIKE THE MORE PROBLEMS IN GEARBOX PERFORMANCE LEVELS RATTLES ETC ETC START TO CREEP UP……………BUT ITS GOOD FOR ITS SHEER INITIAL SPEED TO 100KMPH AND THEN IT FIZZELS OUT…………

    BOTH ARE COMFORTABLE BOTH ARE GOOD BUT IF A PERSON WANTS NO MAINTAINCE HASSELS AND CONTINUIOS PERFORMANCE GO IN FOR THE KARIZMA R IF U WANT A SHEER RIDING EXPERENCE AN A RUSH AND SOME STUNTING PUT INTO IT AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH CONTINOUS EXPENSIS ON MAINTAINENCE GO IN FOR A BAJAJ 220 FI……………

    SERIOUSLY SPEEKING ITS LIKE BUYING A suzuki ESTEEM (KARIZMA) AND BETWEEN A TATA INDIGO (bajaj pulsar 220fi) esteem refined and long working an like long performance and quality while the tata has all the features like dvd etc etc but all work for a year or two and then the car starts to rattle fade loose power leek…..get the picture…………….

    and if u just want the looks now well no person is the same so it is souly on self decision and likes an dislikes frankely speeking i feel the karizma has its own place in styling and looks good whereas for the street fighter and different look the pulsar looks good too i have no problems with the looks on both bikes……….

    well hope this clears all the confusion………
