New 223cc Karizma FI to take on the Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi

HERO Honda will soon launch a fuel-injected version of its 223cc Karizma. As is well known the company had announced at the launch of the Glamour FI plans to introduce other models in its line-up with Honda’s new age PGM-FI technology which includes its 150cc offering the Achiever as well. Needless to say, the Karizma which hitherto hasn’t been selling too well, will command a premium over the already pricey carburetted version.
Further, the bike is not expected to come overloaded with features like a rear disc brake besides self cancelling indicators as seen on arch rival Bajaj Auto’s 220cc fuel injected Pulsar. Which is expected to hit markets in a few months.

If HH launch at a sensible prize with the support of cheap and readily available spares at least on order basis will make this product more popular. But anyway , it will be well over the price of dts-fi because of royalty to be paid to Honda. And without jazzi gadgets , i think its gonna be another failure.

as per what i read above, some have mentioned about mileage, if you are looking for mileage then you need to opt for a 150cc / 180cc segment bikes rather than the beast. do not expect performance bikes to give more mileage.

Hi all bike lovers just brought new “R” Karizma and it looks DEADLY compared even with
Pulsar 220 cc.
I have read almost all comments and come to a conclusion that there are few people who are
looking for “mileage.”
Karizma and Pulsar both are sports bike and who do not need to worry about mileage when u
are riding a sports bike. You just need to worry about yourself (drive safe and enjoy life long)

Guys it’s obvious that the P180 is a powerful bike, which when ridden well can eat a karizma for lunch,breakfast and dinner in terms of “raw performance”, but the karizma edges it only in cornering thanks to its more outward fork’s unlike the p180’s which make’s the bike difficult to slant…. but then again we have the new p200 and the even better p220 which are the best handling bikes in india (way better than the monoshock unicorn))…
now in karizma’s defence the same goes for the way the bike is launched, and if it’s done well then the p180 cannot touch the karizma in terms of performance…. only the 200 could catch it

I think its only Bajaj users who are missing brains that they talk about butt all the time. That’s why u compare Pulsar with Karizma. It took them atleast four to five variations and models to even come close to Karizma. That too they are not even close. Pulsar is a cheap bike for cheap people like you. Its a bad piece of workmanship and nothing else. Must have seen the pics of breaking front fork in Pulsar 200.

well HH karizma can not be a failure again as the bhp it is providing is much more than that of pulsar 220. and that not a roomer. HH karisma can have to add few gadgets in future ,like air suspension, rear disk etc , do that it can compete the two othr models of yamaha and honda those are fazer 250 ; and cvx 250 respectively.

All said and done. For those who have a very little knowledge how torque /BHP/PS works. Let me tell you…
Karizma FI or whatever you call it…has better torque and almost the same BHP as Pulsar 200. Which means in the long run, Karizma can beat 200, but not in a drag race.
Pulsar 220 or whatever you call it can beat ZMA hollow as it has better bore and a better torque,, taking into account the power to weight.
So, let’s not compare Karizma to 220, as it is not fare.
I have raced with a Karizma on a PUlsar 220, and it’s upto you to believe it that 220 is far more powerful in the long run and 200 ismore powerful than Karizma in the short run, but Karizma is powerful when it comes to torque and top speeds.
Rather than bitching and comparing bike, it’s a matter of engineering that these bikes are coming up with, which is a good news. Karizma or a Pulsar can come up with Powerful bikes and compete, but when it comes to engineering, the enigne is what matters. Like I always say, think about the flop beast Hyosung Comet. Can any of these bikes even kiss a COMET , no wya.
It didn’t click. the higher the power, the efficiency will suffer and so the price will go up….

adding to that, I have a seen a 180 Pulsar overtaking a karizma(hypothetical) and a CBZ overtaking an 180.
So, these things are sometimes more to do with the rider, who can optimize the existing power..
Leave alone modifications and stock adjustments….

I like your obsession to ZMA..Let me admit the fact, Karizma has better gearbox and engine compared to a 180 Puls of 200 Puls…
But then again, aesthetically speaking, it’s far far away when it comes to generation next design.
Look at 200 Puls(no comments on 220,not fair)..it looks like a modified bike already..so, that saves some grands on modification..
This is what Karizma is lacking, and if you don’t admit and stick to the point, they will never improve,, I leave it to you and Hero Honda…

Yes there are Pulsar fans and Karizma fans and each believe his or her bike is the best. So you idiots shut your fucking mouths and talk about specs and specs alone because thats the engineering part of the machines which don’t lie. I have seen many a times a pulsar beating a hhk and vice versa so thats no big deal, depending on the rider, road and turns each can win on a particular day and it is very subjective. To start things off, i have been riding the KARIZMA for the past 2 years. It is, with out a shadow of a doubt, an excellent bike on all respects. I have nothing but sheer respect towards the KARIZMA. To simply put it, HH is a legend maker. CBZ, the first premium sports bike in India and then they took it quite a few steps further with KARIZMA. its definetly a legend too. Bajaj, i feel is a trend follower or rather a trend improviser.
and now coming to the twist in the tale…
last week i sold off my 2 year old best friend, KARIZMA only to find a better friend in a beast which goes by the name PULASR 220 DTS-FI.
Its just been a week now, but the only thing I can say about PULASR 220 DTS-FI is that “I AM IMPRESSED”. I know that it is almost impossible to impress the KARIZMA riders simply because they are used to ride the best. But trust me when I say, even after riding the KARIZMA for 2 years, the PULASR 220 DTS-FI impressed me.
Factually speaking, there in not much to be compared between the 2 amazing performance bikes. Both of them are quick, fast and both look awesome. The PULASR 220 DTS-FI is technologically advanced though.
KARIZMA looks and feels intimidatingly big. Its has definitely got that big bike feel to it. And this is exactly whats missing with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.
May be this is a not such a bad thing after all. Even though the PULASR 220 DTS-FI looks smaller and much compact, it surely feels much quicker than the KARIZMA. And to some extent it really is too.
I don’t really want to comment on the mileage and the quality part of it because I really don’t care much and I am sure that none of u readers do either. But just for information, my old friend, KARIZMA used to return 33kmpl which may be considered exceptional. And my new friend is returning around 36kmpl. and about the overall build quality, KARIZMA is better. no doubts. (any HH is)
As I have said, technologically the PULASR 220 DTS-FI is a few steps ahead of the KARIZMA. The PULASR 220 DTS-FI’s head lights are nothing short of amazing. And the rear disc and the clip handle bar and faring mounted mirrors add to the overall style statement of the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.
The bottom line is that both of them are undisputable very very good performance bikes and neither of them can ever disappoint anyone anytime anyhow. The KARIZMA (17 bhp) is fast but the PULASR 220 DTS-FI (20 bhp) is just that much faster. But if any of you wnat an exact answer, either the KARIZMA or the PULASR 220 DTS-FI, guess what, its an unending argument.
All said and done, I still have the utmost respect for the KARIZMA but as of now, I am totally in love (or lust) with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI.
And just to mention about both bikes oooomph!!!…. When I used to ride the KARIZMA people on the road, especially the young ones used to point out and say “wow…hey look karizmaaaaa” and I am sure it still happens to a lot of you KARIZMA riders. But now, with the PULASR 220 DTS-FI, the only reaction I am getting is “wwwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh”. (for those of you who are wondering what that is, its sheer amazement”.

Its an awesome bike pulsar 220. The only word i can say for the bike “Monstor”.
i have owned this bike one month before. Till now i had completed 900 km. It is giving me the mileage of 35- 38kmpl in city and 43 – 47 on highway. 0 – 100 i have made in 15 sec thats too in the 4 th gear In 3rd gear i reached 90 kmph. Its a beast.

Yamaha comes with 125/150 CC engine in new version with 6 speed gears, mono suspension like unocorn, and engine is water Cooled it Means u add Coolant in this and Company Says that Bike High Speed is 125 Km/hr.

both the bikes are good..and it’s just matter of choice…if u like the thrill n pulsar pickup is better and technologically this is the best u can get in india..
but Karizma has its own standard..it comfort riding..it may not have the pickup as good as pulsar but its just a marginal difference… and when it comes to handling ..hero honda is the best…i myself was confused about it..and i still am confused wch is a better bike.. but wat i m not confused about is -i m going to buy KARIZMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

i went to d pulsar pro bikin showroom!!
asd dem bout d bikes mileage.
he sed both 200 and 220 give approx 45-50kpl.
came out f d showroom. and saw a guy sittin on a 220.
asd him if d bike was his… he sed yes!! later asd him d mileage.
he sed 25kpl!!
though karizma lacks a lot f features i know fer a fact dat d same gives a decent 30-40kpl.
220 pulsar feels great. finish of d byk is fantastic. d engine sounds juz awesum!! but its priced at 91k on road. pulsar 220 luks ok!! i cant say it luks great!! d front looks very heavy.. and d rear looks lyk ordinary pulsar. one major disadv of pulsar 220 is dat is doesn cum wid black alloys.
karizma looks betta wid black alloys. and i heard black karizma cums wid red alloys… which luks gr8.
to sum it up…
PULSAR: 91k, no black alloys, very good finish, 25kpl mileage, front heavy lookin bike.
KARIZMA: 87k, black alloys, no self cancellin indiacators, no gas suspension, 30-40kpl and good lookin bike on all sides!!

Hey guys..karizma is outdated technology now. Either hero honda update their karizmas or risk being called outdated in front of 220’s ,r15 and even the lower capacity bikes such as tvs apache. Unfortunately a single update from karizma -R to karizma-Fi will make the bikes more expensive by another 20k. that makes the karizma-Fi costing over a lakh. Even if the bike becomes expensive I think hero hon da should go in for the update to keep up with the technology and of course to satisfy many honda enthusiasts.

hey plz dont fight both bikes are good but in different terms like in terms of power zma is 17bhp@7000 and pulsar is 20bhp@8000….pulsar is smooth to ride but zma is sumthing that has everything which is reliable….pulsar is not reliable its digital speedo console will not work for sure after an year and one more thing that pulsar is good for only an year but zma is foreever….it will give u the same punch when u turn its throttle no matter how old it is…..so HEROHONDA KARIZMA ROCKS OVERALL……ARREY YAHI TOH HAI DESH KI DHADKAN…

I have road p220, p200, p180 & p150. All have one thing in common, all LACK in punch. Its just DOESN’T rev up ! ! !
I still remember when i rushed to pro-biking showroom for a ride of p220 & p200. Trust me guys, i was NOT at all surprised. Fucking supid bikes… My friend kept all models of pulsars & yet, he complaints the same, reliability. Its just NOT smooth, reliable & definitely NOT male…
On the other hand Karizma, its just AWESOME. Its damn smooth, noiseless, fucking faaaaast & AMAZING…

hi friends i am pratik from new bombay i am riding riding karizma 2 years ago from end of my ninth std i am riding it (225 cc)old one it is of my my brothers .but now 1 month ago my dad has gifted me karizma R .now by riding both bikes regularly i came 2 know tht old karizma is better than new one.compare 2 pulsar 220 karizma is best but i love pulsars firing and handling .so friend be safe on roads while riding bye

hai i9 am sangeeth dont buy karizma bcz its seating is very poor,i agree its very comfort but if u sit on the karizma no style,its not a sports bike,but pulsar 200 is very good seating,like a high perfomence bike.if u have any doubt u will check with u r girls which one they like,the should say pulsar…….last month i baught pulsar200,on chennai road i had beated one karizma r,,,,,,,,,,,sooooooooooo pulsar rocks

hey bro, i`ve got p180 1 yr back and i feel the need for speed .
its arising too much in me now, my parents wont allow me to purchase a bike till next 3 yrs
i was a die hard fan of karizma, but the new machines like p220 and p200 which shows, 20 and 18 bhp correspondingly, are definitely the best buys in terms of power and accceleration.
so i think hero honda should keep this in mind and produce a cost effective performance upgraded KARIZMA .
I want ZMA to rise up again in terms of power, style, stability , handling and acceleration.

…Pulsar 220 or Karizma… I’ve tried out both the bikes on low,high and top speeds.All i noticed was that Pulsar vibrates quite a bit but Karizma doesn’t shake a single bit.Also the feel is the best when u ride a Karizma,Pulsar220 looks more like a toy…When it comes to stats Pulsar claims quite much but the ground reality is something which always turns out to be the other way round.Karizma stands first when u talk of a smooth machine…Also in most of the magazines dedicated to biking Karizma is voted as the best n the most reliable bike on varied terrains in comparison to Avenger,Bullet n Pulsar…I guess there’s nothing better than a Karizma atleast on Indian roads…

Well here’s for a little suggestion for kzma
1> fat rear tyres
2> 225 cc is ok
3> increase bhp
4> remove the clown like stickers(the previous version of Kzma was good)
5> rear seat raised
6> speed meters(remove those yellow inner meter cover)
7> repeat(no funny stickers)

Bajaj do not have quality with their manufacturing products and this is world known… all bikes of bajaj including their most sold bike pulsar becomes kabada after couple of years…

hey guys am a pakka HERO HONDA fan,i have an experiance of hero honda power biking since last 4 years,i was using HH Ambition,it was a great one n it makes me the lord of the streets..it is capable of beat p 150 on the roads,p220 may be a great product from bajaj,but the people those who purchase it must go n consult a good mechanic and ask about the quality of bajaj bikes,then go for it…Just wait for a few more days to come…HH will come back with their new racing progeny..

I ve been using a karizma for the last 4 years. to be frank its a kick ass bike in terms of performance,highly responsive to customisation. It is not fair in terms of quality and performance with a p220. Karizma is way ahead. Karizma ZMR as far as the specs given, is a beautiful machine.

That is a different class altogether. You can not compare bullet with Zma and likes. These bikes are quick and clocking more than 80 kmph in a jiffy gives you another satisfaction. Please don’t compare.

I have driven Thunderbird 350 cc. It is very nice and does very well at high speeds even(more than 120 kmph). My point is that they belong to different class. Why to compare?

once we discussed about bikes with my friends who drives bullet 350 and 500 i pointed out that why i dislike bullet is the pushrod, but that is the reasons they like bullet.

in indian bikes market there are a huge gap, why cant the manufactures understand that there is a market potential of price range from 1 lakh to 5 lakhs. Yamaha and suzuki introduced super bike that is very high price.(bullet 1 lakh?? while we discuss about sexy and beautiful lady no no no to auntie). At the price of those super bikes i prefer to buy a sedan or SUV. No i am not talking a bout upgraded Karizam ( may be ZMR or ZRM) or pulsar. We want different new bikes.

I feel Karizma is much more better n faster than P220. Its not the cc dat counts, It the Horse power n Torque dats make bike move faster which any of the Pulsar series lacks. I agree Pulsar got a good pick up, good looks n even good advertising co. do wich has bought its sales up. But techinically Karizma is much more better. Even more than this Pulsar is not at all a balanced bike. This is wat i feel. Self had driven Honda VTR, YAMAHA MTO, HONDA BLACK BIRD. Engines speak a lot. So b techinical n select ur bikes. For your good sake n make sure u wear Helmets.. Everyone’s got choice. Its upto you. GOOD LUCK.
